Consultation has concluded

Planning continues for the appointment of a new Birmingham City Manager. Current City Manager Tom Markus will complete his 2.5 year term on June 30, 2023. After conducting the first round of public candidate interviews on February 8-9, the following three candidates will be moving forward in the City Manager selection process.

  • Troy Bell, former City Manager of Muskegon Heights, Michigan
  • Jana Ecker, Assistant City Manager of Birmingham, Michigan
  • Blaine Wing, Interim Village Manager of Sparta, Michigan
The community met with the candidates during a Public Meet & Greet Event on February 15 at the Baldwin Public Library. The Public Meet & Greet can be viewed here.

    Please share your thoughts about the three candidates for City Manager by completing this brief survey. City Commissioners will review the input received and are expected to conduct a final round of interviews before making a selection.
