The City of Birmingham is gathering community input on potential locations for outdoor fitness equipment. The equipment would provide a free outdoor workout area where residents could work on strength, balance, flexibility and overall fitness. It could include stations for bodyweight exercises, stretching, and other movements, allowing people to exercise independently, with friends, or through organized fitness programs.
Outdoor fitness equipment is included in our Parks and Recreation Master Plan, and we recently applied for a National Fitness Campaign grant to help move this initiative forward. We identified Barnum and Poppleton parks as strong candidates as part of a feasibility study, but we have the flexibility to adjust the location based on community feedback and further site evaluation. Thank you for your input!
