What is strategic planning?
Strategic planning is a process that organizations use to define their direction for the future. As a part of the process, stakeholders collaborate to define the organization’s mission, vision, and both long- and short-term goals and objectives.
How will the City use its strategic plan?
The City’s strategic plan will act as an overarching framework for the Commission, administration, and staff to determine whether proposed projects move the City closer to its stated short- and long-term goals. The Commission will also use the strategic plan as a tool to use to evaluate the performance of the City’s administration towards reaching those goals. The administration will use the resulting strategic plan to prioritize projects and allocate staff time and resources. Performance indicators derived from the strategic plan will be used as a tool to measure the effectiveness of staff at completing the stated goals.
