Thank you for your feedback! This concept plan has been updated considering all feedback received from the public and various boards and committees such as the Museum Board, the Martha Baldwin Park Board, the Multimodal Transportation Board, and staff liaisons to the sustainability committee and other boards. The updated Trail Improvements Concept Plan will be shared at the upcoming August 1, 2023 Parks and Recreation Board Meeting.

The Parks and Recreation Board recommends that the updated Trail Improvements Concept Plan be forwarded to the City Commission for acceptance.

Background Information:

Improving the City's trail system is an important Parks & Recreation bond project. A consultant (MCSA Group, Inc.) has prepared a concept plan that includes the following potential trail improvements based on input received when planning for Parks and Recreation projects. Some highlights of the concept plan include:

- Booth Park entry, and corner features including a restroom facility
- Accessible boardwalks and viewing areas
- Trail entry identifiers (5) throughout
- Connectivity, especially in the area of navigating from Willits to Maple, and including The Birmingham Museum as a point of interest.
- Confidence markers and signage/wayfinding
- New pedestrian bridges

This concept plan is in the preliminary stage. We are gathering public input in various forms such as here, on Engage Birmingham, through November 30, 2022, and also at Parks and Recreation Board meetings. Additionally, this plan will be circulated throughout all City Departments, including Planning and Engineering, and with appropriate city liaisons to relevant boards such as the Multi-Modal Transportation Board and the Museum Board.

Please review the Concept Plan, and then take the survey below.
