Announcing Pickleball 2.0! We are pleased to present 3 options (narrowed down from 5 locations- see Background Info to the right ) for Pickleball in the City of Birmingham.
Options for Pickleball at Crestview Park, Kenning Park, and St. James Park are shown below.
We'd like to hear from you! Tell us which location you like best and why! Please note that this survey will be one of several determining factors in making our final recommendation on location of Pickleball Courts.
Crestview Park:Consider these advantages and disadvantages:
- On street parking available
- Tennis right next to Pickleball
- In order to provide 6-8 Pickleball courts, 1 Tennis Court must be removed. See info about City Tennis Courts to the right.
- Traffic on Southfield Road -could be noisy, may need screening or natural buffer area
- Noise from the game of pickleball- not right next to the neighboring residents
Kenning Park:
Consider these advantages and disadvantages:
- Enough space for 6-8 pickleball courts
- No impact on existing facilities or programs
- City parking lot across the street (may need signage and a crosswalk)
- Traffic on S. Eton/ E. Lincoln -could be noisy, may need screening or natural buffer area
- Noise from the game of pickleball- not right next to the neighboring residents

St. James Park:
Consider these advantages and disadvantages:
- Enough space for 6-8 pickleball courts
- City parking lot available on site
- Additional parking on street
- Minimal residential proximity
- Possible site of splash pad in the future
- Very active park- YMCA permit, Tennis, Baseball, Soccer- could become over programmed
- As drawn, eliminates a tennis court to provide a plaza/place for shade. See info about City Tennis Courts to the right
