Enjoy Pickleball at Crestview Park! Two (2) courts are available for pickleball enthusiasts only. These are temporary while we work toward completing six (6) new pickleball courts at this location.
Read below for info on how we got here.
Thank you for your patience! Kenning Park was determined to be the most viable option for pickleball, which would be brand new courts. As a result, final design and construction documents need to be prepared. The goal was to have new pickleball courts available sometime in 2022!
Currently, the administration is evaluating some viable options to have pickleball courts available sooner than later.
Some issues that have delayed this process:
Parks and Recreation Bond - not enough money available as of today
Pickleball Design Contractor withdrew his services
Internal Department review of proposed site may create a conflict for future city projects
Background Info:
In November 2020, more than 70% of Birmingham voters approved a Parks & Recreation bond, signifying Birmingham's strong commitment to exceptional parks and recreation facilities.
The bond has paved the way to the possibility of adding Pickleball courts to Birmingham's recreation offerings!
Thank you for your input! More information will be coming soon about a location for Pickleball Courts.

Announcing Pickleball 2.0! We are pleased to present 3 options (narrowed down from 5 locations- see Background Info to the right ) for Pickleball in the City of Birmingham.
Options for Pickleball at Crestview Park, Kenning Park, and St. James Park are shown below.
We'd like to hear from you! Tell us which location you like best and why! Please note that this survey will be one of several determining factors in making our final recommendation on location of Pickleball Courts.
Crestview Park:Consider these advantages and disadvantages:
On street parking available
Tennis right next to Pickleball
In order to provide 6-8 Pickleball courts, 1 Tennis Court must be removed. See info about City Tennis Courts to the right.
Traffic on Southfield Road -could be noisy, may need screening or natural buffer area
Noise from the game of pickleball- not right next to the neighboring residents
Approximately six Pickleball Courts may be added at one location with funds from the Parks & Recreation Bond. Let us know where they should go!

The City currently has 16 tennis courts at 7 locations. This does not include courts at Seaholm High School. The National Recreation and Park Association guideline for number of tennis courts in a community is 1 per every 2,000 residents which equals about 10 Tennis Courts in Birmingham. Every community is different, Birmingham values tennis and it shows! We had over 3500 Tennis court reservations in 2021!
